Mall of Tripla is the largest shopping center in the Nordic region, and it had been looking for more energy-efficient solutions for its ventilation system. Vado first surveyed over 300 air handling units in the shopping center and launched a pilot program involving about 10 different air handling units. The results of the pilot demonstrated the effectiveness of Vado filters, prompting Mall of Tripla to replace all of its air filters with Vado filters.
Seeking more energy-efficient and sustainable solutions
The original goal for Mall of Tripla was to find increasingly energy-efficient and sustainable solutions for ventilation. They also wanted the filters to have a longer life cycle. This would allow the shopping center to achieve cost savings and reduce its environmental impact.
Beginning cooperation with a survey and a pilot project
Mall of Tripla expressed interest in Vado’s service model and product range. The shopping center was initially surveyed in accordance with Vado’s service model, which involved assessing more than 300 air handling units on the property.
Based on the survey, a framework was established for a pilot project to test Vado’s service and the performance of the filters in approximately ten air handling units. The objective was to select a range of diverse air handling units for the pilot project so that the test results could be used to assess the energy-saving potential of the entire property as accurately as possible.
There were some challenging sites, including the air handling unit responsible for exhaust air filtration in the parking garage.
Tangible, measurable results
The results of the pilot showed clearly that the energy efficiency had improved for all of the test units. According to the data provided by building automation, the new filters are expected to result in energy savings of approximately 20% across all ventilation units of the property.
In addition, the filter replacement interval increased in challenging environments, such as in the parking garage, where the replacement interval was extended up to three times!
Overall, the total lifetime costs of the filters decrease significantly thanks to their longer lifespan and lower energy consumption. However, the purchase price of individual filters remained virtually unchanged.
The partnership will continue in the future
Thanks to the results of the pilot and various calculations, Mall of Tripla decided to partner with Vado.
Vado filters have now been installed in all of the air handling units in the shopping center. Halfway through the filters’ lifecycle, Vado conducts an on-site documentation and assessment visit to verify that the filters are functioning properly and that the expected results are being achieved.
